What to do if you are experiencing a cyber attack?

We will be in touch shortly. In the meantime, it is crucial that you take steps to control the damage of the ongoing cyber attack to your business. Follow this checklist to stop the attack from spreading, we will handle the rest:

  • Disconnect your internet
  • Disable remote access
  • Ensure that your firewall is and stays on
  • Install any pending security updates or patches
  • Change passwords–create new, strong passwords for each account, and refrain from reusing the same passwords on multiple accounts
  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication on all critical accounts

You should also investigate the following questions, which will help expedite remediation:

  • When did the attack start?
  • Which systems appear to be affected?
  • Who has access to the systems that were infected? This includes IT administrators, other employees, and third parties.
  • How was the attack initiated? You may not know this for sure, but try to explore potential entry points (for example, a phishing email)
  • Who may be affected by the breach? This includes employees, customers, and third-party vendors.

Communicate with your staff in a confidential manner to inform them of what happened. Define clear authorizations for team members to communicate on the issue internally and externally. Our legal counsel will help you in understanding exactly how to let your customers know about the breach.

Our team of Asia’s premier digital forensics and incident response specialists will be with you soon, to help you navigate this stressful time.
